Child Molestation Registry Statistics

  Statistics
As of right now, Wake County has 465 sex offenders on the roster but only 441 of the are registered; 25 of these sex offenders are located in Garner.
The North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry was established in 1996 in the month of January.  It requires a person who is a resident of North Carolina and who has a reportable conviction with the sheriff.  While statistics indicate a 91% compliance rate, State vs. Bryant (a case) have demonstrated that all of the sex offenders are not registered.  This means that we are not certain on how many sex offenders are out there and if some of them were previously convicted in other states that have failed to register in the state of North Carolina.
